Scotland, Home of Dreamers and Adventurers

Welcome to my first wanderlust post, and why not start where the other half of my origins belongs?

I am half Scottish, in case you didn't catch that.

Some Scottish Stuff

Fish and chips. Need I say more? Even the world's biggest fish hater can't say no to fish and chips. With malt vinegar. And salt. And lemon. I've never had pure Scottish or English fish and chips, so for now-don't laugh- my favourite spot to get fish and chips is in Epcot, Disney World. I LOVE FISH AND CHIPS!!

Doesn't this look like a fun instrument to play? I always wonder why doesn't every single bagpipe player get red in the face. But it makes truly lovely sounds that thump in my heart.

This is one of millions of pictures of the Scottish highlands that one day my family will climb together, after I graduate high school. They actually filmed the car scene in Harry Potter by one of these bridges. A lot of Harry Potter was filmed in Scotland.

This is the Scottish flag.

The Edinburgh Castle looks so mysterious. It was J.K. Rowling's inspiration for what Hogwarts resembled.

The original hoaxed picture of the Loch Ness Monster. Do you think it exists? I do!

Why do I want to visit Scotland, aside from the bagpipe players, the fish and chips, and the highlands? There's something about Scotland, its history maybe, its characters, the I-can't-stop-listening accent of its people. The toughness of it, the oldness. My Girl Guide leader also recently left on a trip for Scotland, so that's what got me thinking. Also, I just started watching Peter Capaldi. I love Scotland!

Life in the Movies

Hello!

Do you consider yourself "normal"? Is everything in your life just the way it's supposed to be?

You probably answered no to at least one of those two questions. You might look yourself in the mirror and think how you don't really fit in, or how you always miss the trends, or how on Christmas morning, it's not really magical like in the movies. Guess what?

You're not alone.

Life isn't the way it looks in the movies. In the movies, have you ever noticed how every plot point resembles something similar to another movie? That's because movies and books are not real life, and things like that rarely ever happen actually, if at all.

You're not alone.

No one's life is a movie, not even the cool kids, the popular ones. Everybody has their struggles, and when it comes down to it, most of the time, you'd rather have your own problems than other people's. Notice how in none of the books or movies, there's never a medium between good and bad? It's either everything's tough for this one character or she lives in a perfect dreamland besides the fact there's this one mean girl who goes around calling everyone unpopular and immature?

There never seems to be a character with such a diverse life. So that's what I want to tell you.

Honor your crazy, imperfect life and be grateful for it. No one in the movies have got it like you got it.

Life is short. Eat gummy bears.

Winter Tag

Second is what I recognize to be a never-before-seen (at least by me) tag called My Favorite Things About Winter.

Thanks Noor for tagging me on this one!

What a pretty tag!

The Rules:

1.Thank the person who tagged you. (Link to their blog!)
2. Tell your top 5 favorite things about winter.
3. Answer the person who tagged you's questions about winter.
4. Ask 5 questions about winter for the people you tagged to answer.
5. Tag 3 or more people!

My top five favorite things about winter:
  • Fireplaces
  • Seeing Christmas lights through the snow
  • Carols
  • Bells
  • Watching Christmas movies

The Questions:
1. Favorite winter drink?

Does Butterbeer count? If not, I would have to say peppermint tea. Sorry, I just don't like hot chocolate unless it's really really really chocolatey.

2. Best winter quote?

Ummmm... I'm not sure. I just found this one online:

There is really a je ne sais quoi about turkey cooking - the air of festivity, the family squabbles, the constant basting - that does not apply to the turkey breast, which is, really, a convenience of food... A turkey without seasonal angst is like a baseball game without a national anthem, a winter without snow, a birthday party without candles. -Laurie Colwin

3. Do you have snow where you live?

Plenty. Tons. A little too much.

4. Brief opinion on winter?

I love winter- the year wouldn't be right without it. I love the smell of snow, I love the winter holidays and missing school- I love the good feels of winter. I love the snow until early January. Then I'm ready to move on.

5. Favorite winter month?

December!!

The Peeps I Tag

Kat

My Questions:

  1. Favourite carol, for any holiday in this season?
  2. Favourite winter dish (ex. turkey or hot chocolate or candy cane)
  3. Favourite winter sport?
  4. How old were you when you built your first snowman? (if it's summer where you live, change this to sand castle)
  5. Favourite holiday movie?

If you don't have particularly cold winters where you live, just do your best. :)

My Amazing Case of Wanderlust

Some of you probably wonder why my blog is titled the way it is. It's not a travel blog, and none of my posts are related to wanderlust really, so you might be wondering why. Well, it lies in the reason I started blogging. To get out and see the world from a different angle, meet people and do things I wouldn't have thought to be, to experience life in a different way and find myself along the way. In my first post, I talked about how when I was little, I played games of pretend and through those games- I saw the world. I actually want to see it for real though- and one day, this blog will be a place for me to tell stories about the things I've done and the places I've been around the world. One day, it will have a page about my published works, and one day, I'll use it to go back and reminisce about the dreams I had such a long time ago.

I decided to do a few  more posts on my wanderlust, since it is in the name of my blog, and maybe you could see what I mean.

Photography contest!

Hi! I am very proud to announce my first contest.

The Contest
All you have to is take one picture that best, not describes per say, but kind of matches the feels of this sentence:
Life's little perfections make it well worth living.
I will pick the picture that I think suits it best. There will be one winner unless I get more than three entries, in which case, I'll add a second place and so on.
The Rules
Make a blog post and post your picture there, and link to it in the comments. You can edit it by blurring the photo or other things of that nature, but you can't add anything like on pic monkey. It has to be yours! Also, in a few sentences, describe what you think that sentence means. You won't be judged on that but you have to do it to qualify.
The Deadline
I'm not very good with dates myself, but since it's only a picture and a few sentences, I'll give you until November 16th nine am eastern standard time to do this. The winner will be announced that day or the day after.
The Prize
The prize is either: Your button on my sidebar or an interview.
I would love for you to enter!

How Ya'll doing with Nanowrimo?

Ahh, the challenge of Nanowrimo. It's my first year doing it and I seem to have it pretty well under control so far, and It's pretty exciting. I've figured out that if I write 3.33 percent of my goal each day, then I'll be right on target. I have to write more on weekends though, because of my heavy school load.

Sure, it's a challenge, but that's the beauty of it.

My target is 39, 600 words according to the word count goal calculator. I wanted to write more than the minimum but I still need to sleep.

So, are you doing Nanowrimo? How is it going?

My posts might be shorter right now until all this madness goes away, so alas, happy writing!
