Must We Hide Our Joy

Your laugh is so loud.

You have a terrible singing voice.

Stop doing ballet at the supermarket, you're embarrassing me!

Originally, I wasn't sure if I was going to use this for the Must We challenge. But then, a lovely friend of mine had put something on Instagram (yes, I have Instagram) that I just could not deny.

Yes, yes! I love this so much, because it basically sums up this whole post.

People claim to be spreaders of kindness and positivity and love, but as soon as your laugh sounds slightly weird or obnoxious (mine does!), they glare at you, ultimately lowering your self esteem for the day. It's happened to me before.

I dare you, today, for this week, month, year -forever- to not hide your joy. Realize the gift of living in a world as beautiful as ours, and bask in its glory. Celebrate every day the joy of being alive. Practice the arts you love, laugh loudly at the jokes you find hilarious, sing along passionately to the songs you enjoy, and dance to whatever sweeps you off your feet.

But most of all, don't hide your joy because someone doesn't like seeing or hearing it. They need more positivity in their life. The world needs more people like you in it, especially during these dark times.

Be the bringer of joy to someone's life- especially your very own.

  1. I reckon happy people are the most attractive people. We all want to be the ones who are loud and laughing, and the only reason someone would talk about them behind their back is because they're jealous.

  2. I think it is important to show your joy, but I do agree with what M said, above.
    Great Post!
